Off to a Great Start!

Janae, Justin, and I arrived in Provo last Wednesday, in the midst of a heavy snowstorm to our utter delight. It was my first time driving in the storm, but I think I handled it very well, thank you. It was so fun to see Jarom and Stephanie again, all settled into their cute little apartment, and we had a blast rocking all the post-Christmas sales, sledding (see Steph's blog for further info, haha), and playing games with Janae and Justin. New Year's Eve was Jarom, Steph, and I, and we had fun going to the mall for some inflatable games, watching the ball drop, and enjoying some good ol' Martinellis. On Friday we drove up to the Pettits to join in on some delicious food, games, and conversation. It was so fun to see everyone again and celebrate the new year.

I unfortunately couldn't move into my apartment till Saturday night, so it was lifesaver to have Jarom and Steph to crash with. Thanks guys! I finally got to move in and meet my roommates, who are super awesome! I'm living with five other girls (Stephanie, Lara, Janey, Alyssa, and Shae) and they've all been so nice and welcoming and great about including me in everything. I happened to pick the best apartment in the complex, if I do say so myself. I've been slowly unpacking and moving in all week, with help from Steph and Jarom in the areas of grocery shopping and desk assembling. So my room's finally starting to feel like a home rather than a hotel room....

Orientation was last Saturday, which was honestly really boring, but gave me the chance to meet a couple girls (Camilla and Bekah) who are in the same boat as me, transfers with no idea what we're getting into. We pretty much bonded during the campus tour, and then went to the BYU basketball game later that night, which was super fun.

Classes started this last monday, and I'm proud to say I only got lost a couple times. BYU's campus is massive when compared to Gavilan, but I wasn't late to anything and I'm definitely getting a workout walking to classes! My professors and classes are all really awesome, and I'm excited to be getting into my major classes as opposed to general ed stuff.

Some people may be surprised to learn that I've joined a soccer team. I was pretty surprised myself, haha, but I figured it was a good way to get out and meet people. So I joined a intramural soccer team with some people in my ward just for fun. We are in the lowest division, with most people never really having played before, but we had out first game last night and it was a blast! We totally lost, the final score being 9-2, but seeing as we'd never played together or at all, we were pretty satisfied haha. Afterwards we went up to a dance on campus and exhausted ourselves for a couple hours before closing the evening with a DVD of Brian Regan. All in all, a pretty good day...

And that's pretty much been the last couple of weeks! I'll try and post pretty often to let ya'll know what's goin on. I'm loving Utah and BYU, and I'm so excited to be starting this new phase of my life!
